Myofascial Release Therapy

Myofascial Release Therapy is an effective hands-on therapy that applies continual pressure utilizing a specialized stretching technique to release tension, relieve pain and restore motion.

The word myofascia is derived from the Latin word "myo," meaning muscle, and "fascia," for band. Fascia is tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web, from the head to the toes. Fascia surrounds every muscle, bone, nerve and organ in the body! It can become tight, restricted and a source of tension to the rest of the body. Trauma, such as a fall, whiplash, surgery or just poor posture and repetitive stress injuries can cause changes in the fascial system, which in turn, influences the comfort and functioning of our body. The fascia can exert excessive pressure producing pain or restriction of motion. It may affect our flexibility and stability, and is a determining factor in our ability to withstand stress and strain.

Myofascial Release is a hands-on treatment during which our therapists use a multitude of Myofascial Release techniques and movement therapy. Enhancement of strength, flexibility, and posture may result from Myofascial Release.
