Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are a form of x-ray imaging, where digital X-ray sensors are used instead of traditional photographic film. Advantages include time efficiency through bypassing chemical processing and the ability to digitally transfer and enhance images. Also less radiation can be used to produce an image of similar contrast to conventional radiography.

Electrical-Muscle Stimulation

Electro-Muscle Stimulation is a special form of electrical current that is administered at the site of soft tissue injury, especially muscles, for the blocking of pain. It works by allowing small amounts of electrical current to be induced into the tissues for the purpose of reducing swelling. This widely used technique safely strengthens muscles and helps reduce painful symptoms.

Patients generally feel a slight tingling sensation when first administered. Since your body may become accustomed to the initial setting, the intensity may be raised during the course of your 10-20 minute treatment for maximum healing effect.

Electro-Muscle Stimulation has been used as an effective form of pain relief. It is recommended for cases in which pain is accompanied by swelling and inflammation.

Electro-Muscle Stimulation Benefits:

  • Reduces pain sensation
  • Helps decrease swelling
  • Promotes general muscle tone
  • Speeds the healing process

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Therapeutic Ultrasound is a treatment using high frequency sound waves administered in the region of soft tissue injuries. It works by sound vibrations, as fast as a million times per second, penetrating the tissues deep in the body, creating a heat response.

Therapeutic Ultrasound Benefits:

  • Highly effective in treating calcium deposition
  • Stimulates healing without irritation
  • Speeds metabolism and improves blood flow
  • Reduces nerve root irritation
  • Enhances the body's natural healing ability
  • Often helps shoulders, elbows, and other sports related injuries

Ultrasound treatments are painless, and can be a pleasant and relaxing sensation below the surface of the skin. The gel used to conduct the sound waves is at room temperature and may momentarily feel cool to the skin when it is initially applied. Most patients feel nothing, or a pleasant and relaxing sensation below the surface of the skin. Ultrasound treatment can usually be administered directly to the area of complaint, penetrating deep into the body. The rise in temperature, increases blood flow, relaxes muscle spasms, massages damaged tissues, and speeds the healing process.

Superficial Heat

To help raise the temperature of soft tissues directly below the surface of the skin, hot packs, warm moist towels, heating pads, water bottles, and infrared lamps are often used. Heat applied to the surface of the skin enlarges blood vessels below the surface, relaxing tissues, and can temporarily relieve painful symptoms. Increasing circulation and relaxing muscles is helpful before or after chiropractic adjustments, exercise, and other treatments.

Heat is usually recommended for the relaxation of tissues in spasm and temporary relief of the symptoms associated with chronic pain and muscle tightness. It is an easy way to increase flexibility, range of motion, and promote increased circulation to speed the healing process.

Superficial Heat Benefits:

  • Helps increase circulation
  • Relaxes muscle tension
  • Reduces joint stiffness
  • Prepares tissues for rehabilitation

Iontophoresis

You can experience relief without the anxiety and pain of an injection. Iontophoresis of anti-inflammatory medication is a treatment option for many common inflammatory conditions of the musculoskeletal system. This treatment allows you the comfort and convenience of a non-invasive way to propel medication by application of a small electric current to enhance the transport of both charged and polar, neutral components across the skin. When an electric field is established across a membrane, ions on either side will migrate in the direction dictated by their charge. This occurs through electromigration and electoosmosis. Iontophoresis is well classified for use in transdermal drug delivery. Advanced Healthcare Center would like for our patients understand the use of electrotherapy for the effective treatment of pain, and is happy to provide further information upon your request.

Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a term that describes the application of ice, cold towels, ice massage and compresses to reduce the temperature of tissues directly on or below the surface of the skin. It is an inexpensive, readily available, and easy way to reduce swelling of inflamed tissues.

Cryotherapy works because surface cooling constricts blood vessels, numbs painful areas, and helps relax muscle spasms. Cold temperatures reduce nerve transmission of painful symptoms and provide temporary relief.

Ice is most often used to manage acute injuries or recent eruptions of chronic conditions. Cooling affected tissues is effective in reducing and preventing posttraumatic swelling. Local cooling should be applied several times a day during the initial states of an injury.

Cryotherapy Benefits:

  • Helps reduce swelling and inflammation
  • Numbs affected area to reduce pain
  • Reduces muscle spasms
  • Can be self-applied (consult your doctor before self-administration)

DTS Therapy

DTS Spinal Compression Therapy® is a leading non-surgical alternative for disc related syndromes of the lumbar and cervical spine. DTS Therapy gently stretches the spine, relieving pressure from the discs, joints and muscular tissues, while enhancing the body's natural healing process.

3 Phases of DTS Therapy

  • Treatment
  • Stabilization of Structure
  • Support of Muscular System

The gentle distractive forces of the Triton® DTS creates decompression, the unloading due to distraction and proper positioning, to improve blood flow and important nutrient exchange to the injured area.

Your comfort and safety are of primary importance during DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy®. Therefore, unlike any other decompression device, you have several positioning options. Only if you're 100% comfortable will you be able to achieve the ultimate objective of complete rehabilitation of your discs and spine. During DTS Therapy, you'll experience several cycles of stretch and relaxation, which gently graduates to a peak over a period of several minutes.

Therapy sessions typically last less than 20 minutes, and many patients feel pain relief with as few as 8-10 treatments. It is important to remember however, that pain subsiding does not mean that your discs and spine are healed, so it's critical that patients stick with the treatment protocol prescribed by their practitioners in order to achieve the full value of DTS Therapy.

DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy is a pain-free alternative that has shown a very high rate of success at reducing or even eliminating back and neck pain. If you suffer from chronic, debilitating, low back or neck pain, you owe it to yourself to call our office today to make an appointment to see if you're a candidate for DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy. Our office is dedicated to offering the latest, state-of-the-art therapies for treating pain in the low back and neck, sciatica, pinched nerves, and bulging or degenerative disc diseases. We believe DTS Spinal Decompression Therapy to be the most advanced, non-surgical and pain-free alternative.

Spinal Rehabilitation

Spinal rehabilitation is specific effective therapeutic exercise designed for individuals who have developed physical deconditioning of their muscular systems. This may be due to a specific injury, functional loss associated with degenerative processes, disuse, fear avoidance behavior, or pain inhibition.

At Advanced Healthcare Center, we know how to improve muscular endurance, coordination, balance, strength and flexibility through therapeutic exercise with simple techniques that patients can easily learn and execute on their own. As muscle and joint function improves pain is expected to diminish.
